Job Req Number: 89464
Time Type: Full Time
- Do you want to utilise your investigative nature when deep diving into data structures and formats?
- Are you keen to step into a new team with huge potential and an entrepreneurial atmosphere – but with an international organisation to back it up?
- And do you thrive with making data make sense for your non-technical colleagues?
A new team focused on creating a new data foundation
Within Global IT and the Enterprise Transformation team, you will be welcomed into the Product Advanced Analytics team that has 6 specialists – 2 profiling analysts, 2 data engineers, and 2 mapping analysts.
Together, we are supporting DSV’s transformation to become more sustainable and digital through understanding how data can be utilised, structured, linked and mapped. To achieve this, we are creating a new data foundation – a new data platform.
“This is a very new team that has an entrepreneurial feel to it – we work with change, transformation, and creating something completely new, so sometimes our end goal and the way we get there change. But that is also what makes this an amazing opportunity to make an impact on our organisation”, says Manager, Products & Software, Daniël van Staden.
Many of us work remote (as you can also do), so we make it a priority to connect through teams and other tools.
Structure our data into understandable outcomes
As our new data engineer, you will be handling the data before and after the data analysts do. Firstly, when accessing the data streams, you will get the data into a structured format, making it accessible to the data analysts. Post analytics, you will again restructure and map the data to create a usable insight for relevant stakeholders within the organisation.
More specifically, you will:
- Design and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data
- Optimise data systems and ensure they are scalable, secure, and maintainable
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring high availability and performance
- Implement best practices for data management, security, and compliance
- Write clear and efficient code to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows
- Handle various ad-hoc tasks that come our way and make our workday truly dynamic
Data Engineer experience and strong communication skills
With your great communication skills, you are able to summarise our findings and convey technical information to technical and non-technical colleagues alike. Also, you have a problem-solving mindset, so that you can easily step into debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving technical challenges.
Furthermore, we imagine that you:
- Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- Have proficiency in SQL and database management systems
- Have hands-on experience with Python, Java, or Scala for data processing
- Are familiar with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) as well as ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline frameworks
- Have an excellent level of written and spoken English
- Are able to navigate in a transformative setting and adapt to new goals and processes along the way
