Health and Safety Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is to implement and maintain company’s HSE standards, rules, policies and requirements / IMS requirements for Contract Logistics Operations. Healthcare experience required.

Responsibilities:

1.          Implementing on site of Integrated Management System requirements.

2.         Implementing, maintaining and continually improving the FSMS.

3.         Ensuring all relevant HSE systems are implemented and in practice on all DSV (Abu Dhabi) warehouses and Contract Logistics operational facilities.

4.         Ensuring a safe working environment inside DSV (Abu Dhabi) warehouse.

5.         Ensuring high standards of fire prevention methods, fire preparedness and response systems.

6.         Ensuring effective fire/emergency preparedness and response systems are implemented on site. Monitoring fire detection and fighting systems as per company’s Integrated Management System requirements.

7.         Improving compliance with HSE/legal and other requirements by reporting all near misses, hazards, non-compliances and violations and suggesting proper/controls.

8.         Investigating any HSE related incidents / client complains / worker’s complains and suggesting proper controls/ corrective & preventive actions.

9.         Conducting awareness programmes, toolbox talks and induction training to the workforce & maintaining records.

10.       Conducting risk assessments for all the routine and non-routine activities and implementing suitable controls; recording and reviewing the risk assessments adequately.

11.        Identifying required HSE materials/ equipment and calibration/certification requirements for the transportation & open yard operations/facilities and escalating to the warehouse manager (copy to Manager QHSE).

12.       Identifying any HSE training requirement for the workforce and escalate requirements to Manager QHSE.

13.       Monitoring/cooperating with operational functions to ensure safe system of work.

14.       Preparing daily/weekly/monthly HSE reports and reporting to Warehouse Manager and Head of QHSE / Manager QHSE

15.       Ensuring proper waste management is implemented in all the DSV (Abu Dhabi) warehouse facilities. Tracking the waste generation & utility consumptions.

17.       Monitoring and reporting the disposal status of hazardous-non-hazardous wastes and maintain proper records of disposal.

18.       Ensuring all relevant Quality and HSE documentations are prepared and made available for audits.

19.       Conducting HSE walks, HSE inspections, HSE meetings and other relevant HSE management system tools at site.

20.       Ensuring all legal requirements related to Health & Safety as well as Environment Safety are strictly observed at their site

21.       Coordinating with central QHSE coordinator to administer Integrated Management System and providing necessary supports ensure compliance to ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001:2007 ,ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 22000:2005

23.       Ensuring the HSE communications are effectively reached to the proposed audience

Qualifications & Characteristics:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, NEBOSH / IOSH, Training on Fire & Safety / ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 14001:2015 / ISO 45001:2018

Work Experience – 3 to 5 years of experience as HSE professional from Oil & Gas sctor
