DSV are recruiting for Senior Tender Manager (flexible UK location).
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Tender Manager to join our team in the third-party logistics (3PL) sector. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth through innovative solutions and strategic proposals.
Reporting to the General Manager Tender Management UK &IE, as a Senior Tender Manager, you will lead the tender process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission. This includes ensuring the timely submission of high-quality proposals that meet client requirements, managing the tender budget and resources effectively and establishing compliance with all RPF requirements and guidelines. Essential competencies include proven tender management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to lead effectively within a matrix structure.
Key Tasks
Building relationships with new clients and gauging their needs.
To lead and oversee the end-to-end tender process, from qualifying opportunities to submitting winning proposals. Including analysing tender documents, preparing pricing proposals and customer presentations
Coordinating with various teams, including sales, solution design, operations, projects, legal and finance to ensure all aspects of a tender are addressed.
Maintaining comprehensive and accurate tender documentation, including tender files, records of communication and pricing information.
Formulating effective strategies for the bidding process, managing resources and ensuring compliance with client requirements.
Creating comprehensive bid documents, ensuring precision and adherence to guidelines while coordinating with external and internal stakeholders.
Provide regular and timely updates to internal stakeholders, monitoring progress and tender outcomes.
Engage with suppliers to secure favourable costs and terms to make the bidding process cost-effective.
Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with business objectives, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to optimise revenue and profitability.
Drive effective bid responses challenging solutions, IT and costs appropriately to arrive at a solution and offer the best response that meets the customer needs, within DSV’s accepted parameters
Monitoring and evaluating bid performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
To lead negotiations through tender processes, ensuring best practice and competitive advantage is maintained.
Maintain and use DSV’ CRM, Dynamics, to drive performance and report on progress and results
Guidance of new-business implementations.
Keeping up with latest trends and innovations in warehousing and logistics.
Summary of Capabilities/Competencies:
5+ years of experience as a bid manager, tender manager or a similar role
Experience in managing bids for complex projects or large-scale contracts.
Preferred experienced within the Automotive sector
Demonstrated success in winning bids through effective proposal management.
Strong understanding of the tender lifecycle, proposal writing, development and contract negotiation.
A demonstrable deep understanding of the sector
Will inspire trust and respect.
Will possess excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and time management which are essential to execute tender responses on time and at high quality.
Ability to lead effectively within a matrix structure where influencing is required at times rather than direct line management.
Will be adaptable and able to employ a consultative style or a more directive approach as necessary.
Will be highly articulate and able to easily translate and communicate complex messages.
Confident, clear and concise communicator at all levels, with strong and engaging presentation skills.
Comprehensive understanding of activity-based costing models
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Work, Power Point)
Essential Professional Qualities
Knowledge and experience of selling supply chain solutions.
Graduate or equivalent - essential to demonstrate high intellect.
Clear ability to interact at a senior level both internally and externally, requiring a high degree of gravitas, impact, and credibility.
Demonstrate an excellent track record of delivering results through strong negotiation skills in complex and highly competitive environments for new business.
High level of numeracy and literacy.
Inspire trust and respect, providing strong direction with clear objectives.
Ability to lead effectively within a matrix structure, where influencing is required at times rather than direct line management.
Analytical skills, high level accuracy and attention to detail
